Privacy Policy

What this site is

Queenstown City Guide is a static website: plain HTML pages served from Cloudflare Pages. There are no user accounts, no logins, no newsletter, no comment section and no advertising network. Nothing you read here is personalised, we store nothing in your browser ourselves, and we build no profile of you.

Information we receive

Two things, and nothing else:

• The contact form, or an email to info@queenstowncityguide.com - your name, your email address and whatever you write. It reaches us by email through the form service that delivers it, and we keep it only as long as it takes to answer you and handle any follow-up.
• Ordinary server and network data - our host, Cloudflare, records requests (IP address, time, page, browser) to serve the site and protect it from abuse, under its own privacy policy.

Third-party scripts

Each page loads two third-party scripts, and neither is an advertising one. Google Analytics 4 counts visits and shows us which pages are read and which links are followed; it records an IP-derived approximate location, device and referrer, and Google sets its own cookies for it under Google's privacy policy. We use it for audience measurement only, never for advertising, and it is the only analytics product on the site. GetYourGuide's partner analytics tells that platform which of our pages sent a visitor who went on to book, so a commission can be attributed, and it is governed by GetYourGuide's own privacy policy.

Some pages embed maps and YouTube videos. Those load only when you interact with them, and from that point the provider's own policy applies. The site itself uses no local storage or session storage of any kind.

Affiliate links

When you follow a booking link to GetYourGuide, or a hotel link that goes through Stay22 to Booking.com or another accommodation site, that platform sees the visit and may set its own cookie so a later booking is credited to this site. What you then do there - searching, booking, paying - happens entirely under its privacy policy and terms.

We never see your payment details, your booking or any personal data from it; we see only anonymous, aggregate commission reports. Links to operators' own ticket pages, and to New Zealand government and council sites, carry no tracking at all.

Children

This site is written for adults planning a trip. We do not knowingly collect anything from a child, and there is nothing here to sign up for.

Your choices

You can block cookies and scripts in your browser or with a content blocker, and the guide reads perfectly well without any of them. To ask what we hold from an email you sent us, or to have it deleted, write to us through the contact page and it is done.

Changes to this policy

If the site starts using something new, an analytics property or a second affiliate network, this page is updated before that goes live, and the date shown on the page changes with it.
